About Us
Rococo Studio is located deep in a pristine hickory forest about 70 miles south of Atlanta, GA. It is the location of the tribal sacred grounds of an ancient tribe of indigenous Americans, whose artifacts abound. The forest is crisscrossed with crystal clear creeks, and the floor of the forest is covered in ferns. The beauty and innocence of nature are a source of constant artistic inspiration.
Deborah Owens, has taught a modest few art classes and taken nearly every type of art class, dating back to her childhood, in GA. As a fourth generation artist, Deborah was exposed to "Art", Studio Life, and the World's Most Famous Art Museums as far back as she can remember. "There was never a time without art, it is part of my thinking, my seeing, my sleeping, my past and my future. Since my parents were involved in the Airline industry we traveled, often visiting museums, studios and great works of art. I was given Art Books as Birthday Gifts, Trips to Museums as Outings, and Art Classes in the spring, the summer, the winter, and the fall, to constantly try to improve my art. Art is air to me, it is my drug." At one point she opted to seek a Ph.D. in art history, but diverged to other academic pursuits, meandering through several disciplines, including anthropology, philosophy and psychology.
Deborah is a portrait artist, her work is in private collections. She has tried and tried to paint "quick, pretty flower pictures" but been quite unsuccessful at it, preferring instead to do the work that calls to her, her real love, the times-taking Old World Style Portraits. She works in fashion industry inks, oils and old world tempera. As the studio name implies, much of her work has a dramatic baroque quality that harkens a bygone era, with absolutely no hint of "quickie art", modernism, or abstract art.
Deborah's hobby and lifelong fascination with sea shells, as well as her background in design and fine art, have led her to develop her own idea of sea shell compositions. All Rococo Shells creations are designs done at the Rococo Studio with Deborah as the only sea shell artisan.
She also is in love with fabrics, and that love affair has led her to design her own line of Christmas Stockings. The new collection uses Fresh Water Pearls, Jade, Turquoise, Amethyst, Cats Eye, Alabaster, Amber, Stone Pearls, Abalone, Mother of Pearl, Millefiori, Cloisonne, Sequins, Brass Buttons, and Beaded Bridal Trims.
The New Collection Will Provide Extravagant Christmas Stockings, Christmas Tree Skirts, and Christmas Stocking Holders that will grab your imagination and delight you. It is Deborah's goal to create Christmas Heirlooms, For You and Your Family Lineage.
